REPRESENTATION OF PLURALISM IN AYAT - AYAT CINTA MOVIE

This study aims to analyze the representation of pluralism in the film Ayat-Ayat Cinta using Budhy Munawar Rachman’s theory of pluralism. The pluralism referred to here is not limited to the acknowledgment of diversity, but also includes the acceptance and appreciation of differences in religion, culture, and worldview within social life. The research method employed is a qualitative approach. Data were obtained through observation of scenes, dialogues, and narratives in the film that are relevant to the pillars of pluralism according to Budhy Munawar Rachman, namely inclusivity, tolerance, equality and brotherhood, wisdom, and kindness. The findings show that Ayat-Ayat Cinta represents pluralism through the interactions of its characters, who come from different religious and cultural backgrounds, with an emphasis on tolerance, mutual respect, and interfaith cooperation. These findings reinforce the view that film can serve as an effective medium for conveying moral messages and the values of pluralism to society.

Idealism vs. Realism: A Comparative Intertextual Study of Marlowe’s Shepherd and Raleigh’s Nymph

The pastoral genre traditionally presents an idealized, static landscape where nature and romance are perceived as immune to the inevitable passage of time. This research explores the intertextual confrontation between Christopher Marlowe’s “The Passionate Shepherd to His Love” and Sir Walter Raleigh’s “The Nymph’s Reply to the Shepherd.” The primary objective is to investigate how Raleigh utilizes formal mimicry to systematically deconstruct the pastoral myths established by Marlowe’s original verses. Drawing upon intertextual theories and deconstruction framework, this study employs a qualitative-content analysis method to analyze the intricate structural and semantic shifts between the two canonical poems. The study demonstrates that while Raleigh adopts Marlowe’s formal structure, he strategically subverts the time paradox that Marlowe proposed. By exposing the hidden aporia within Marlowe’s utopian promises, Raleigh proves that the material and botanical imagery of the shepherd are inherently fragile and self-destructive when confronted with reality. The implication of this study is that Raleigh’s response serves as a sophisticated meta-criticism of the linguistic instability found in classical pastoral rhetoric. It is hoped that this research will encourage future literary studies to further examine the role of counter-narratives in dismantling established generic conversations through the lens of empirical realism and temporal logic.

Tramp's Bravery and Courage in Lady and the Tramp Movie

The movie Lady and the Tramp is one of the Disney classics that has captured the attention of audiences for decades. The main character, Tramp, is a street dog who is intelligent and has an interesting nature. In this study, the researchers investigates Tramp’s courage and intelligence in his way to face life challenges in the movie. The purpose of this study is to analyze Tramp's nature as a smart street dog and his courage in facing various challenges. This research uses qualitative analysis of the movie Lady and the Tramp and bravery theory. The results show that Tramp has a strong courageous nature. He is always ready to face challenges and protect his friends. With his intelligence, Tramp manages to help Lady to feel free and get involved in various adventures. Tramp’s efforts even also help Lady to leave the limitations of her luxurious life. In conclusion, this movie is not merely entertainment, but full of moral lessons, especially in the character of Tramp who is courageous to face various challenges, becomes a very iconic character, and is loved by the audience.

An Analysis of Translation Procedures in rendering Culture-Specific Items (CSIs) in Cek Toko Sebelah English Translation

This study was conducted to investigate the translation procedures applied in rendering culture-specific items (CSI) in the English translation of the Indonesian comedy film entitled Cek Toko Sebelah by Ernest Prakasa. The theory of translation procedure proposed by Newmark is used as the theoretical framework of this research. This research uses qualitative research, and the method used is descriptive research. The data were classified by identifying and analyzing the procedures used to render culture-specific items (CSI) in the film’s English translation based on Newmark’s theory. The findings show that 50 culture specific items (CSI) were found. The most frequently discovered category of CSI is Social Culture, with 35 data or (70 %) from the total data, whereas the least discovered category of CSI is Ecology with only 2 data or (4%) from the total data. Among the twelve procedures suggested by the theory, only five procedures are applied in rendering the translation. The most used procedure is Cultural Equivalent with 25 data or (50%). The second most used procedure is Neutralization with 14 data (28%). The third most used procedure is Literal Translation with 5 data (10%). And the two least used procedures are Transference with 4 data (8%) and Couplet with 2 data (4%).

Sebuah Analysis Of Verbal And Non-Verbal Signs Found On The Boy And The Heron Movie Poster

Anything can be a sign, including the elements found in the movie poster of The Boy and the Heron. This research aims to classify the verbal and nonverbal signs contained in the poster based on Peirce's semiotic theory, including examining the meaning contained in it. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative research method with Peirce's semiotic approach regarding the semiotic triadic model of signs. Through his triadic framework, namely Representamen, Object, and Interpretant, this study found that the signs do not only convey the setting and brief information, but there is a deep meaning related to the theme of human relations with nature, as well as the meaning that the filmmaking company wants to convey to attract viewers.
