STRATEGY TO INCREASE PRODUCTION AND INCOME OF CLOVE (Syzygium Aromaticum) FARMERS IN LEDUG VILLAGE, PRIGEN DISTRICT, PASURUAN REGENCY
Abstract
The this research is formulate strategy increase income and production clove farmers as well as what internal and external factors are in Ledug Village, Prigen District, Pasuruan Regency. Type data collection uses descriptive qualitative, namely collecting data in natural settings with interpreting phenomena. Number informants was 10 people. Income of clove farmers in Ledug Village is Rp. 21,071,810/Ha/Year with an average total cost of Rp. 3,807,642/Ha/Year and income Rp. 24,879,452/Ha/Year. This shows that clove farmers are able cultivate their land well and it's worth maintaining. The internal factors of clove farmers' strength farmers' experience in managing cloves for many years, the availability large areas land for growing cloves, adequate labor, increasing clove production, and it has become an industrial raw material. Internal weakness factors include minimal capital, minimal equipment, uncertain productivity, declining income, and large number of market competitors. Meanwhile, external factors that provide opportunities are quality clove production, the number of companies that accommodate clove products, high market demand, adequate transportation facilities, and support government. External threat factors include unpredictable climate and weather, low clove production prices, pests and diseases that affect production prices, and unstable market conditions. The right strategy increase clove farmers' income, namely SO strategy, includes improving marketing strategies to increase clove farmers' income through mass media and utilizing farmers' experience to maintain their farming business
