Pengaruh Penambahan Aditif Metanol-Butanol Pada Bahan Bakar Sebagai Upaya Peningkatan Performa Mesin Spark Ignition
Abstract
Krisis energi skala dunia saat ini karena menipisnya cadangan bahan bakar fosil. Selain itu, meningkatnya harga bahan bakar fosil, emisi gas rumah kaca, serta keamanan dan keragaman energi mendorong untuk mengalihkan untuk mencari sumber bahan bakar alternatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan memvariasikan aditif bahan bakar metanol-butanol (5:4, 5:8, dan 5:12)v/v dengan RON-90. Mesin yang digunakan dengan jenis automatis transmisi kapasitas 124.8 cc. sedangkan alat uji untuk performa menggunakan Dynotest Chassis 50L. Daya mengalami peningkatan terbesar pada variasi MB3 sebesar 9% terhadap bahan bakar komersial. Mep mengalami peningkatan terbesar pada variasi MB3 sebesar 18% terhadap bahan bakar komersial. Peningkatan tersebut terjadi pada putaran mesin 5000rpm dengan nilai 915kPa. Sfc mengalami penurunan optimal pada variasi MB3 sebesar 26% terhadap bahan bakar komersial. Penurunan tersebut terjadi pada putaran mesin 8000rpm dengan nilai 0.38kg/kW.h. Efisiensi Termal mengalami peningkatan optimal pada variasi MB3 sebesar 21% terhadap bahan bakar komersial. Peningkatan tersebut terjadi pada putaran mesin 8000rpm dengan nilai 27%. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa penambahan aditif methanol dan butanol sangat efektif meningkatkan performa mesin SI.
